Have you ever dreamt of working at a brewery? If you’re reading this site, chances are you have – or you’ve already realized it and currently work at a brewery. Congratulations on that. But for the rest of us, we each have our dream breweries we’d love to work at. Imagine if you could go to this dream brewery and brew on a professional system with real brewers helping you. This leads to my idea for breweries:

Create a program where anybody can pay to come into the brewery and brew a small scale production.

Of course, no amateur is going to come in and brew on Sierra Nevada’s main production line. But many breweries now have smaller brewing systems and facilities specifically designed for small batch brews.

Why not open these up to the public on certain occasions?

It would be a new way for breweries to engage with their fans, consumers, and communities. Breweries could take this idea in any number of directions, both for profit and not. Breweries could charge BIG dollars to come in and work on their equipment (more than they’d sell the lost beer production for). Many people dream of this experience and I’m sure some are willing to pay well for the opportunity (it would be considerably less than what they’d have to pay if they purchased their own professional equipment). And the people who pay to use the brewing equipment aren’t just paying for the brewing experience – at the end of the process they’ll have A LOT of beer to take home to friends and family. Some of the target customers would include:

· Home brewing clubs looking to gain knowledge and experience on larger systems

· Beer fans who want a once in a lifetime brewing experience

· Organizations and companies looking for fun team outings

· Avid home brewers who need to make a large quantity of beer for a special occasion

· Extravagant birthday, bachelor, etc. parties

Siomai is a dimsum of Chinese origin which is loved by many Filipinos. One can order different kinds of siomai but the base is always pork. The ground meat should have some fat otherwise the cooked siomai will be too tough. Prawns or shrimps can be substituted for part of the pork if desired.

Estimated cooking time: 50 minutes

Shrimp and Pork Siomai Ingredients:

* Pinoy Pork Siomai 1 kg ground pork (suggested proportion of fat to lean meat is 1:3) or 1 kg Prawn (shrimp) peeled
* 1/3 cup chopped water chestnuts or turnips (singkamas)
* 1/3 cup chopped carrots
* 2 medium or 1 large minced onion(s)
* bunch of spring onions or leeks
* 1 egg
* 5 tablespoons sesame oil
* 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

* 1 teaspoon salt
* 50 pcs. large or 100 pcs. small wanton or siomai wrapper
* soy sauce, calamansi (lemon or kumquats), sesame oil and chilli paste (for the sauce)

Wrapper:

* 1/4 cup water
* 1 egg
* 1 tablespoon vegetable or corn oil
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Chilli Paste:

* 1/8 kilo Chillies (Siling Labuyo)
* 3 tablespoons cooking oil
* 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

Siomai Cooking Instructions:

*

Pinoy Pork Siomai Mix all the ingredients for the filling in a bowl.
*

Spoon 1 tablespoon of mixture into each wrapper. Fold and seal.
*

Meanwhile, boil water and brush steamer with oil.
*

When the water gets to a rolling boil, arrange the siomai in the steamer and let stand for 15-20 minutes, longer for larger pieces.
*

Serve with soy sauce, calamansi and sesame oil. Chilli paste is optional.

Wrapper:
*

Beat egg and mix with flour till free of lumps.
*

Bring water, cooking oil and salt to a boil, then pour in flour.
*

Remove from heat and beat until mixture forms a ball.
*

Divide the dough into 1 1/4 -inch balls.
*

Roll each ball on a floured board until paper thin. Set aside.
*

Simplest version of chilli sauce would be to chop chillies well and fry them in oil, sesame or vegetable oil, never olive oil if you want it to have a Filipino taste.

Chilli Paste:

Combine chopped chillies and minced garlic then simmer for around 20 minutes or till most of the water has evaporated. Add oil, simmer and stir well.

Kaldereta Recipe

Estimated cooking time: 1 1/2 to 2 hours

Beef Kaldereta Ingredients:
• 1 kilo beef, cut into chunks
• 1 big can (350g) liver spread or ground liver
• 5 onions, minced
• 5 cloves garlic, minced
• 6 tomatoes, sliced
• 1 cup tomato sauce
• 3 green peppers, diced
• 3 red peppers, diced
• 4 pieces hot chilli peppers, minced
• 3/4 cup grated cheese
• 2 cups beef stock or water
• 1/4 cup cooking or olive oil
Kaldereta Cooking Instructions:
• In a casserole, sauté: garlic and onions in oil. Then add tomatoes, red & green pepper and chilli peppers.
• Add in the beef, tomato sauce, liver spread and water or stock. Salt to taste and let simmer for at least 1 hour or until the beef is tender.
• Add cheese and olives (optional) and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
• Serve with plain rice
Cooking Tips:
• Instead of beef, goat's meat (kambing) can be used. If goat's meat is used, marinate the meat in vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper for at least 15 minutes.
• For a special kaldereta, do not use water or beef stock. Use an equivalent weight of onions to the beef (1 kg of onions : 1 kg of beef). The onions will serve as water to the dish

A billboard image along Route 154 in eastern Connecticut of an infant with a beer bottle to his lips is unforgettable -- and that's just what the designers had in mind.

The "Together We Can Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking" billboard may evoke a wide range of emotions like anger, shock, disgust or humor, but proponents said it gets their message across.

The caption -- "You wouldn't do that then ... why now?" -- along with a photograph of two teenagers, drives the point home.

"I can understand some people are disturbed by (the billboard), and we contemplated those concerns at the photo shoot," said Gail Onofrio, who works with the coalition through the Tri-Town Youth Services Bureau Inc. "The baby's mother suggested the (photographic) shot. Most importantly, the audience is not kids -- it's parents. Parents should be as outraged to see teens drinking as they are when they see a baby drinking."

For the record, Onofrio said the bottle was empty and had been washed and sterilized before it was put to the baby's mouth.

"We hear that the billboard's gotten people talking, and that's what we want," Onofrio said. "There has been, in the past, a sense from parents that if their kids drink at home, the parents can supervise. We now know that alcohol affects the development of the brain."

This campaign -- two more billboards are expected to be up by the end of the month and stay through November -- coincides with a statewide police crackdown on underage drinking.

Currently, there are billboards up in Middletown and Deep River along Route 154.

Among the more noteworthy recent incidents were 20 Branford teenagers cited for underage drinking after undercover officers infiltrated two house parties, and the detaining of 23 minors in East Haven for possession of alcohol.

There was also the underage drinking party recently in Wilton with parents in attendance. Donald and Heidi Spinola, of 9 New St., were arrested and charged with serving alcohol to minors. A judge denied the couple accelerated rehabilitation in September and they are due back in court Oct. 27.

"There's been some controversy, but any attempt to get young people's attention about the dangers of underage drinking is important," said Lt. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police. "Underage drinking is dangerous, on the road and at home. Quite frankly, if these efforts reach one set of parents who keep their kids from drinking, the billboard's done its job."

Anthony Bondi, first selectman in Haddam, was not familiar with the billboard, but he was familiar with the subject.

Lance Armstrong meets again with Colorado governor to discuss Coors Classic revival in 2011

Lance Armstrong likes beer and cycling as much the next enthusiast, and cycling and beer seem to like the seven-time Tour de France winner.

Armstrong has just signed a three-year partnership to promote Michelob ULTRA, a beer brand manufactured by Anheuser-Busch IbnBev. And he's also again just met with with Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter to resume discussion of reviving the Coors International Bicycle Classic, once the pre-eminent U.S. stage race.

Armstrong, with Ritter's support, hopes to rekindle the Coors Classic in 2011. It was last held in 1988 and sponsored by the Colorado brewery.

"There is no reason the Coors Classic doesn't come back. I think U.S. cycling needs it," Armstrong told Associated Press.

Armstrong and Ritter were joined by Connie and Davis Phinney for the discussions about reviving a stage race in Colorado. Davis, the father of Trek-Livestrong rider Taylor, was the to win the event sponsored by the Coors Brewing Company in 1988.

Armstrong and Ritter have met to discuss the project on several other occasions.

"I think Lance Armstrong is committed to some kind of race in Colorado. This is a big deal for us," Ritter said.

Greg LeMond and Bernard Hinault were among other internationally famous Coors Classic titlists. In 1986, the event held just prior to the World Championships of Cycling in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

David Burke's Primehouse celebrates Octoberfest with a week of beer dinners

A month known for its savory flavors and pleasantly crisp temperatures welcomes a celebration worthy of a stein or two.

David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago, celebrated for setting the bar for beef dry-aged in their own Himalayan salt room, will be hosting a weeklong OctoBEERfest worthy of ritual.

Playing off the German beer celebration, Executive Chef Rick Gresh will host four evenings, from Sunday October 4th through the 7th, where local breweries showcase their beer against a preview of Chef Gresh's fall-inspired menu items.

The evenings begin with a "Beer and Nibbles" reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a four course dinner, with each dish paired expertly against the showcased brews (yes, even dessert tastes stellar with a stout!) Participating breweries include Two Brother's on Monday, New Holland Brewery on Tuesday and Goose Island on Wednesday.

Chef Gresh himself will host Sunday's beer pairings with the first public debut of his own home brews. On tap are a tantalizingly golden Working Man Champagne, Stoned Wheat (Seedling Farms peach infused wheat beer), and a chocolately Mr. Peabody Porter among others.

Perhaps the most exciting pairing comes with the main course, a 40-day dry aged prime rib, with a carmelized onion gratin sure to bounce impeccably off his caramel 2 Wood Ale (names for its brewing first with birch syrup, then finished with African mahogany).

"Artisinal beer totally has a place on fine menus, as brewers are 'treating' it more like wine in a way with aging in barrels," explains Gresh, the passionate home-brewer. "Brewers are helping to create a community using local ingredients like the Seedling fruit in my stoned wheat, with the chamomile in my IPA that came from my garden."

Research indicates that a 10 percent increase in current alcohol excise taxes-that is a penny for a beer-would result in less drinking, especially among underage drinkers, reducing rape, robbery, domestic violence and liver disease. A tax increase of 3 cents per beer would cut youth gonorrhea by 9 percent.

Beer originated elsewhere, but it has become the quintessential American drink. Gallup polls since 1939 have consistently reported that roughly two-thirds of Americans identify themselves as alcohol drinkers; the 2008 poll reported that 42 percent of drinkers drink beer more often than either wine or hard liquor. Sports teams and events, big ticket music acts, and cultural happenings all have become little more than advertising media for brewers to increase their reach to the beer-buying public, and more often than not those headline sponsors are Coors, Budweiser, or Miller.

Although beer is infused into our culture in a way that few other things are, the ways in which government regulation affects (or restricts, depending on your point of view) the choices available to the quaffing masses is given scarce thought. Beer Wars is a documentary by Anat Baron – herself a veteran of the malt beverage industry – that seeks to examine the state of America’s brewing industry by using the experience of two idealistic beer makers as a baseline from which larger issues about free markets and consumer choice are discussed.

The film’s timeliness – available September 22 on DVD at the film's official site – is uncanny, as it releases when the beer world seems poised for change, simultaneously sustaining a small number of massive and powerful producers and a flourishing appetite for craft brewed alternatives to the mass-produced light lager that seeks to crowd out competition in the grocery store cold case.

Beer Wars is neither a staid and static analysis of beer economics, nor an exposé-styled escapade. (Even when Baron is face-to-face with August Busch IV, Anheuser-Busch’s CEO, after having multiple interview requests ignored, she allows him to walk away without any confrontation.) What Baron seeks to persuade audiences of is that alcohol distribution laws – the “three-tier” system implemented after the repeal of Prohibition – although created to protect consumers, have actually erected immense barriers to entry that in turn reduce the opportunities consumers have to choose from a variety of quality beverages. Because the three-tier system prohibits breweries from selling directly to the retailer or the individual customer, the basic mechanism of a free market system – producers and consumers "communicating" about needs, wants, prices, and such – is not functioning.

Despite its theme of economic disparity, the brilliance of the film is that it chooses not to focus on the economics. Those lessons are taken care of in short segments with the use of clever and clear animations. (They inspired in me visions of Monty Python’s genius Terry Gilliam being set loose with a stack of 1950s LIFE magazines and a pair of scissors.) Baron’s message is conveyed by the stories of Sam Calgagione (founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery) and Rhonda Kallman (founder and CEO of New Century Brewing Co., and co-founder of The Boston Beer Company, makers of Samuel Adams), passionate entrepreneurs who she follows as they sacrifice and toil almost quixotically toward their goals of brewing success. In their stories lies Baron’s best argument for why passionate entrepreneurs should be encouraged, not have their efforts hampered by antiquated hedgerow regulations.

Baron’s treatment of Kallman as she tirelessly markets her “Moonshot” caffeinated beer to tavern-goers, store owners, and anyone who will listen is adept at capturing the particular tone of melancholy recognizable to anyone who has participating in a failing venture that they were desperately passionate about. In particular, footage of Kallman comforting her crying daughter before leaving home for a late-night tour of bars where she would undoubtedly face additional rejection was heart-rending. Juxtaposed against news clips announcing Anheuser-Busch’s intent to produce a caffeinated beer, one can almost hear her dreams being crushed under the trotting hooves of eight Clydesdales.

An incredible bonus to the 89-minute documentary feature is a nearly half-hour panel interview moderated by writer and economist Ben Stein with the filmmaker and several familiar faces from the film, including Calgagione and Kallman. The discussion that ensues provides further information about the topic, and was extremely entertaining in its own right.

Above all, Anat Baron’s Beer Wars is a film that cuts through the glaring neon of Big Beer to prompt viewers to consider whether a system of regulations that benefits big business and discourages people from pursuing their dreams is such a good system to have. Films that show the human cost of government over-regulation are rare, films that do it as well as Baron’s work are rarer still.

The disclosure of planned price increases by the nation’s two largest beer sellers earlier this week have prompted some to ask if the actions are justified considering the state of the economy.

MillerCoors, the Chicago maker of Miller Lite, Coors Light and Blue Moon, and Anheuser-Busch Cos., the St. Louis producer of Budweiser and Bud Light, both blamed rising expenses for their planned increases. Together, the companies control 80% of the U.S. beer market.

But Bob Zieger, a sourcing expert at Ariba Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif., supply management software and consulting firm, said he takes issue with the idea that "general commodity prices" are behind beer price increases.

"After all, beer is not made from a combination of pork bellies, copper and cocoa. Its key price drivers, like hops and barley, are actually not experiencing a serious price increase right now. If there was ever a time to blame commodity costs for a necessary price increase, it was last year," Zieger said.

He said the giant brewers are using commodity prices as "a convenient scapegoat for a price increase."

And there’s a lesson in that for other business operating in the current low inflation, recession plagued environment, Zieger said.

"As the market rebounds and companies look to recover profits lost during the recession, you must know your cost drivers," Zieger said.

He urges companies to closely follow the true cost drivers of the material and inputs into their businesses, including commodities, currencies, labor and transportation. Armed with that information, "you can push back against unwarranted proposed price hikes," he said.

Beer drinkers, however, are probably stuck.

"Consumers won’t have much ability to push back if the price per six-pack goes up and will likely take any modest increase in stride," Zieger said.

I ordered one lanciao 2 order of corn rice and one adobo, sipping the soup and enjoying my meal while my sweat is rolling over my body, it`s almost one month since my last visit here to satisfy my appetite.

When I finished my meal I get my wallet and approached the cashier who is busy attending some customers, I tell her what I ordered and she replied with the total amount of 62.00 pesos, I gave her my 1000.00 peso bill, I have no smaller bill in my pocket and so she get another bundle of money to changed my 1000.00 bill, she gave me 4 pieces of 100.00 pesos and 2 peices of 20 pesos and she ask me to give her a 2 pesos. And then I am thinking to change the 20 pesos to change it by 5 peso coin so I can gave the bystander watching my motorcycle at the parking area,

She gave me the four 5 peso coin, I separate the coins to my left pocket, and then I put the other money on my right pocket, As I wiped my sweat I look around and think to buy one stick of cigar, but no one is selling near in the area, so I decided to go home coz I am also thinking to play basketball,

My starter did not work so I crank it then ready my self to drive my way home, so when I got home I took my pants off and changed for basketball attire, I went to the basketball court and start shooting, we played 3 games, we win at first, lost at second game and win the 3rd game,

I rested my self for a several minutes and I went home coz its already dark, when I got home my GF called and she invited me for a beer session and to bring some extra money, I replied that I will be follow later I will take a bath first,

I took the money from the right pocket of my pants and followed my GF with her officemate at EL GRAJE, when we decided to go home, she for ask the money, and
I gave the money in pocket and told her that’s 800 pesos, when she recount it its only 450 pesos, OMG I am thinking now for the 500 pesos, oh no…when I recalled where the money goes…that’s the time I realize that I am a victim, for NOT COUNTING THE CHANGED BEFORE I LEAVE…

People from different kind of living and different kind of professions like policemen, taxi driver, call center agent and etc. are always here to satisfy their stomach, located in the heart of cebu city just around fuente osmena circle, in front of the very famous crown regency hotel.

Party people here are some tips how to get cure of your hang over!!!!!

Before drinking

Make it sure that you have eaten your meal, or have something to eat before beer session, don’t mix alcohols, if you mixed beer with some alcoholic drinks like another brand of beer and some hard drinks it can really increase the volume of alcohol you are going to drink which results to immediate effect of alcohol,

After the party or beer session

Have something to eat, a chicken soup or a noodles and soup fish are the very common ways to make you feel satisfied after the drinking, have a 3 to 5 glasses of water will help rehydrate you. Drinking makes you lose a lot of fluids, going to bed dehydrated will just leave the alcohol in your system at it's concentrated levels and will cause you to feel their effects later on.

Home made remedies

Energy drink or sports drinks like Gatorade will help you rehydrate,

Water therapy, drink more water as you can, to helps your body rehydrate
Don’t drink coffee, This will dehydrate you further and it may feel good for a bit, but you will feel worse in the long run

Apples, eat some as soon as you wake up.

for me mas strong ang colt45 even 3 bottles lang ako ma inom grabe ma hubog na ko,

part na gyud sa atong lifestyle ang beer when ever their is an occasion deli gyud mawala ang beer, kalimtan pa og luto ang sud-an basta ang beer gipa bugnaw na da-an, hahahaha,

i start drinking during my high school days, there are times mga hubog pa me ni sulod sa school, but aside of being bogoy2x i am very proud nga naka graduate gyud ko og high school,

so unsa man jud akong nakuha nga lesson sa pag inom og beer? daghan ka ayo, hahahaha...kama-o nako mangilad og chicks...

bitaw makat-on man sad ka sa imong mga ka inum labi na serious ang inyong topic, but depende rapod na kinsa imong ka inom, akong ka inom akong cousin nga seaman so among topic is all about seaman works, unsa ka dako na mga wave sa dagat....

but ang naka nice gyud aning tagay with barkada samot na kong na-ay video-k bahala nag ma labayan og bato sa silingan basta nag lami wa na gyud paki alam...
